About THE GILDED CHAIN
For
years, Callie Taylor has been obsessed with two things: a man she can never
have and escaping to Paris where she can follow her artistic passions. But
everything changes when Callie meets Wes Thorne, a wealthy, mysterious art
collector and famous dominant. Despite all the nights she's spent dreaming of
another man, it is Wes's predatory gaze that suddenly consumes her every
thought and sets her body on fire. One touch from him promises unforgettable
passion, but Callie knows that passion often comes with a price..
From the moment he sets eyes on Callie, Wes is intrigued by her artistic talent and her delightful innocence of all things erotic. A stolen kiss leaves him aching and desperate to claim her in a way he's never wanted any woman. But first he must convince her to surrender her control. And what better place to seduce an artistic soul like Callie's than Paris?
EXCERPT
Callie
needed to get away from him. Just because she’d agreed to go to Paris with him
didn’t mean she wanted him to follow her around all day. She wanted to be left
alone, left in peace. Not being intimidated by a man who was the
personification of sin when she’d just sworn yesterday to avoid men like him. This
bet was likely just a way for him to amuse himself. He had to be playing with
her. Nothing more. There was no way a man like him would have any interest in
her, and she didn’t want him to. Wes would want a tall, polished model, a thin
society beauty, not a short, curvy girl in jeans with calloused hands. It just
didn’t make any sense for him to be interested in her. He had to be really
bored out here if he was paying attention to her. I must be the only female for
miles if he’s paying attention to me. It was a depressing
thought.
“I’m
sorry. I’m not in the best mood. You should probably just go.” Please go away, she prayed. If she had to ask
again, she feared her plan to avoid men like him wouldn’t last. She’d be a
sucker all over again and throw her heart into something only to get hurt. No more Ms. Nice
Guy. I have to protect myself, don’t I?
The
intense wolfish gleam in his eyes softened and he inched toward her. Before she
could move, he trapped her against one of the posts bearing an old saddle she’d
been oiling earlier that day. The thick scent of the hay, the tang of the oil,
and the exhale of Wes’s breath consumed her, shrinking her universe into this
one infinite yet enclosed span of time. He rested one hand on the saddle by her
waist, so close, but not quite touching her hip. His other hand curled under
her chin and gently lifted it up so she had to tilt her head back to look him
in the eye. His gentle but firm touch made that newly built brick wall around
her heart quake.
No, I can’t let him
get inside my head. She
had to control her emotions and her response to him.
“Shed
your tears for him, Callie. You are allowed that much,” he whispered. His warm
breath fanned across her lips as his face inched closer to hers.
“Allowed?”
She bristled and flattened her hands on his chest, pushing hard. He didn’t
budge.
“Yes.”
He smiled, almost coldly. “You’re allowed to cry when your heart is broken, but
just know that when you’re ready the entire world awaits you.”
Wes
cupped her cheek, closed the distance between them, and pressed his lips to
hers. It was no chaste kiss. His tongue slid inside, stroking hers, and she
jolted against him. He assaulted her senses, his hands suddenly everywhere,
sliding slowly over her back, tracing her hips, caressing the sensitive skin at
the nape of her neck. Her blood thundered in her ears, like the resounding
beats of a mustang’s hooves upon the fields on the other side of the mountains.
His
teeth sank into her bottom lip, the little sting making her gasp in shock and a
traitorous zing of awareness and pleasure rippled through her. He coaxed,
teased, and played with her mouth and seemed to be memorizing her body with the
way his palms shaped her curves and slopes. She couldn’t think, couldn’t
breathe. She had to stop this. She needed to…When she started to tremble he
suddenly stepped back and rested his forehead against hers, their shared
breaths an equal measure of soft pants.
“You
aren’t ready. Not yet.” He brushed a lock of her hair back from her face and
tucked it behind one of her ears. The gesture was intimate and tender. She
trembled.
“Ready
for what?” she demanded, but her tone was breathless.
“For
me. But you will be. I have thirty days to prove it to you. Unfortunately I
have to return to Weston for a few days but I’ll come back and pick you up.” He
withdrew from her personal space, gazing for one minute longer at her before he
strode out of the tack room and away from her.

Release Day Launch: All Hallows Eve (A Krewe of Hunters Novella) by Heather Graham
We are so excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for ALL HALLOWS EVE by Heather Graham!! ALL HALLOWS EVE is a Krewe of Hunters Series Novella brought to you by 1001 Dark Nights. Grab your copy of this sexy novella today!
About ALL HALLOWS EVE: A Krewe of Hunters Novella
Salem was a place near and dear to Jenna Duffy and Samuel Hall—it was where they'd met on a strange and sinister case. They never dreamed that they'd be called back. That history could repeat itself in a most macabre and terrifying fashion. But, then again, it was Salem at Halloween. Seasoned Krewe members, they still find themselves facing the unspeakable horrors in a desperate race to save each other—and perhaps even their very souls.
Come
to me. Please, come to me.
The
words seemed real to Elyssa Adair, like a whisper in her mind, as she looked
up at the old mansion.
The
Mayberry Mortuary was decked out in a fantastic Halloween décor, customary
each year starting October 1. It sat high on a jagged bluff near the waterfront
in Salem, Massachusetts. Just driving toward it, at night, was like being in
a horror movie. Dense trees lined the paved drive and it was surrounded by a
graveyard. The old Colonial building, when captured beneath the moonlight,
seemed to rise from the earth in true Gothic splendor.
She
shivered and looked around at her friends, wondering if the words had been
spoken by one of them. Vickie Thornton and Barry Tyler sat in the backseat,
laughing with one another and making scary faces. Nate Fox was driving, his
dark eyes intent on the road.
No
one in the car had spoken to her.
She
gave herself a silent mental shake. She could have sworn she’d actually heard
a whisper. Clear as day. Come to me. Strangely, she wasn’t
afraid. She loved the artistry of Halloween—the fun of it—and few places in
the world embraced the day like Salem.
This
was home and she loved Salem, despite the sad history of witch trials and
executions. A lot of that was steeped in lure and myth, but the local Peabody
Essex museum and other historic venues seemed to go out of their way to
remind visitors of the horror that came from petty jealousy and irrational
fear.
“Boo,”
Nate said, leaning toward her.
She
jumped with a start.
She’d
been deeply involved in her thoughts and the view of the old mansion. Nate,
Vickie, and Barry all giggled at her surprise.
“Do
you have to do that,” she murmured.
He
frowned, his eyes back on the road. “Elyssa, we’ve done this every year since
we were kids. So are you really scared now?”
“Of
course not,” she said, and tried to smile.
She
loved Nate. They were both just eighteen, but they’d been seeing one another
since their freshman year. She was young, as everyone kept reminding her, but
she knew that she would love him all of her life. Despite them being
opposites. She was a bookworm, born and
raised in the East, red hair and green eyes. He was from South Dakota, a
Western boy, whose mom had been from nearby Marblehead but whose dad had been
a half Lakota Sioux. He was tall and dark with fabulous cheekbones and a keen
sense of ethics and justice. He was their high school’s quarterback, and she
was debate team captain.
“Don’t
be silly,” she said. “Last year, I played a zombie, remember?”
And
what a role. She’d arose from the embalming table and attacked one of her
classmates who’d played the mortician, terrifying the audience.
Nate
grinned. “That you did. And what a lovely zombie you were.”
Please.

Can love be forged in a fire of lies? Or will the truth destroy them both?
Her lips are still curved when she turns her attention back to me. Something about the moment hits me like a punch to the gut. I think for a second that I could stand here and stare at her, just enjoy her smile and her happiness for hours. Days, maybe. But I can’t. We can’t. So, instead, I brush a clump of mud from the end of her nose. “Have fun?”
“I did. Thank you. This was so good for him.”
“And you.”
“And me,” she concedes.
“You can be the real you around me anytime. I won’t tell a soul.”
“So you prefer this?”
“Oh, hell yeah! I don’t need glamorous. Or proper.”
“I’m not proper.”
“You forget that I heard your…expressiveness that day on the side of the road. And it didn’t consist of ‘darn’ or ‘golly gee’. But I haven’t heard anything like that come out of your mouth since then.”
“Ladies aren’t supposed to talk that way, according to Lance.”
“I don’t want a lady. I want a woman. One who knows her own mind. One who wears what she’s comfortable in, one who says what she’s thinking.” I take a step closer. I can’t help myself. Her scent draws me in. Even covered in mud, she smells like sexy sunshine. “I want the woman who kisses like she’s on fire and makes me feel like I’m the only one who can put her out.”
“Sig,” she begins.
I break in to cut her off. I know her objections. And I know how much I don’t want to hear them. “I’m just being honest. I’m not even touching you.”
Her eyes are glued to mine, a damn near irresistible gravity pulling us together. “It’s not like you can anyway. I mean, we’re in public. With my little brother. What could you possibly touch?”
I reach down and smear my hand in mud. With her eyes locked on mine, I reach between us and flatten my palm on her chest, right over her heart. “This. I’d touch this.”
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, M. Leighton, is a native of Ohio. Leighton finally found an acceptable outlet for her fantastical visions: literary fiction. Having written over a dozen novels, these days M. Leighton enjoys letting her mind wander to more romantic settings with sexy Southern guys, much like the one she married and the ones you'll find in her latest books. When her thoughts aren't roaming in that direction, she'll be riding horses, swimming in ponds and experiencing life on a ranch, all without leaving the cozy comfort of her office.
A note from M. Leighton: I love coffee and chocolate, even more so when they are combined. I'm convinced that one day they could be the basis for world peace. I also love the color red and am seriously considering dying my hair.

HAUNTING A COWBOY - A Brand New Story from USA Today Bestselling Author
Randi Alexander When ranch foreman Thad McCade’s life is
disrupted by something supernatural, he hires a ghost whisperer to clear his
home. But Madam Ruby is not at all what he expected. She’s Cheyenne Redford,
she wears a business suit, drives an expensive SUV, and Thad would rather have
her whisper in his ear than whisper away his ghost.
Excerpt from Haunting a Cowboy: When Cheyenne finished her beer, she stood.
“Well, since there’s no one but you and me here tonight, I’d better get going.”
She looked out the window. Pitch black. “Could I borrow a flashlight? I didn’t
think of grabbing one before I walked down here.
Thad
got to his feet. “You walked?” Leaning over, he picked up his keys out of the
bowl by the door. “Let me drive you back.”
“No,
please.” She stepped to the screen door. “I don’t mind the walk. It’s so
beautiful here, with the stars and…” She rolled one hand around, trying to come
up with something else to add.
Thad
grabbed a rifle from behind the door. “And night critters that are prowling,
looking for their next meal.” He checked to see that it was loaded.
“Oh,
I didn’t think of that. In the city, night critters walk on two legs, and carry
knives.”
“I’ll
walk you.” He leaned close to her.
His
scent filled her mind with warm, naughty ideas as she blinked up at him,
parting her lips. Would he kiss her now?
He
frowned and flipped on the porch light. “After you, ma’am.”
Turning
her face away, she hid the warmth that flooded her cheeks. Crap, what an
imagination she had. Stepping outside, the cool night chilled her romantic
notions down to manageable proportions.
They
walked along the gravel drive in silence.
A
howl came from a distance. In the nearby woods, scurrying sounds startled her,
making her lurch a bit, and stumble into him.
Taking
her elbow in his hand, he got her straightened out, but kept his hold on her
arm.
The
heat racing through her, starting at her arm and running all the way up and
into her bloodstream, gave her chills.
“Cold?”
His voice came close to her ear.
Was
he making his move now? She could see the lights of Sayde’s house ahead. Would
he kiss her now, or wait until he dropped her off at the door? Oh lord, those
two beers had really hit her hard. She was wanting things she probably
shouldn’t even be thinking about.
But
if she was reading him right, and for some reason she was able to read him a
little too well, he was wanting her just as much.
They
stepped from the gravel road onto the concrete driveway at Sayde’s house.
He
released her. “Cheyenne.” In the low illumination from a faraway yard light,
his eyes glimmered.
Her
intuition told her he wanted her, but was too reserved to take what he desired.
“Thad.”
She stepped close to him, ran her hands from his chest up to his neck and went
up on tiptoes, pressing her lips to his.
For
a second, he stiffened, then he opened his mouth, the hand not holding the
rifle wrapped around her waist and pulled her tight against him.
Amazing,
his lips felt so firm and hot, his breath laced with beer and sexy, pure man,
mingled with his woodsy scent and forced a shiver through her.
Where
their hips pressed together, she could feel a bulge. She touched her tongue to
his lips.
“Goddamnit.”
Thad released her, stepped back, and breathed hard.
The
loss of his heat against her cooled her as much as the look in his eyes. Pure
terror.
“Get
inside, Cheyenne. It’s not safe out here.” He growled the words and turned,
walking away.

EXCERPT:Easy tugged down the covers and gestured for Jenna to get in. She chose the side that would allow her to lie on the uninjured side of her face.
“After what you’ve been through, I don’t want to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable,” Easy said.
Propping herself on an elbow, Jenna shook her head. “You won’t. You’re the—” She blanched as if she hadn’t meant to say whatever she’d nearly said.
Which made Easy need to know. He crawled on the bed as if lured by the words. “Finish. That. Sentence.”
She eased back onto the pillow, red hair sprawling around her shoulders like silk, and stared up at him. And it took everything Easy had not to settle himself on top of her and tease the words out with his hands and tongue.
“The only one who makes me feel safe," she whispered.
Satisfaction humming through him, Easy turned and stretched out on his back. Because if he kept looking at her while she was looking at him like that, he might not be able to restrain himself from having what he wanted. A taste. A chance.
None of which she was in any shape for. And given the shitstorm in his head, probably neither was he.
“Good. That’s good,” he murmured, blowing out a long breath. Damn, he was tired. Not just because he hadn’t slept much the night before. But because of the size of the load he’d been shouldering for the past twelve-plus months.
If he could only figure out how to put it down. He scrubbed his hands over his face, wishing he could shake himself out of this fucking slump. If Rimes were here, he’d kick Easy’s ass for being such a morose motherfucker.
But he wasn’t here. Which was the damn problem in a nutshell.
He dropped his arms to the bed and peered over at Jenna.
She lay on her side facing him, hand tucked under her chin, not looking the least bit settled or relaxed.
“Whatchu need?”
“You.” She spoke the word without any hesitation, any doubt, any seeming self-consciousness.
“Have me, Jenna. Whatever you want,” he said, his cock stirring no matter how hard he reined himself in.
Holding his gaze, she moved closer until her head rested on his shoulder and her body trapped his arm between them. And, suddenly, she wasn’t fucking close enough.
“Here,” he whispered, lifting his arm and inviting her closer. And damn if his heart didn’t soar when she fitted herself the rest of the way against him, her face against his throat, her breasts against his ribs, her leg curling up onto his thigh.
He wasn’t sure whose sigh was louder. All Easy knew was that this was the first time in more than a year he didn’t feel alone. Wrapping his arm around her, he couldn’t resist squeezing her in just a little closer.
“Thank you,” she whispered, her breath ticklish against his neck.
He laced his fingers between hers where they rested on his chest. “I gotchu. You just close your eyes and know I’m here.”
Did you have a favorite line? Thanks for reading!

From opposite the long table of food, the brunette gave him a blatant once over as he came to a stop in front of her, twirling a strand of purple hair around her fingertip. When she reached his lucky belt buckle, her sinful lips twitched.
“If the words, ‘Come here often,’ leave your mouth, I swear I’ll laugh you straight back to roadie-ville.” Her words were harsh, but the smile that sprang free was playful, and Tyler found himself mesmerized by the familiar twang of her southern voice.
So much so that he’d almost missed what she said.
“Roadie-ville?”
“Sorry, do you prefer techie?” Her cute nose wrinkled as she stuck her hands in her back jeans pocket. “I heard someone else say that earlier, but I swear that sounds like a computer nerd.” She looked him up and down again, this time her gaze lingering around his hips. Slightly south of the belt buckle. Hot damn. “I think roadie fits you better. Sounds sexier.”
Tyler scratched the side of his jaw. Was she messing with him? He’d heard a hell of a lot of come-ons since making it to Nashville and had been propositioned in every way possible. But this was a first. The woman stared back, smiling that damn seductive smile, and he realized she honestly had no clue who he was. For some reason, he was in no hurry to correct that just yet.
He couldn’t recall the last time he’d gone anywhere without being recognized, much less his own concert. But since the room was swarming with crew, Tyler could understand the confusion…if she weren’t a hardcore fan, and clearly, this woman wasn’t. Tyler swiped a hand over his mouth, hiding a smile.
“Sugar, you can call me anything you like,” he drawled, laying it on thick even to his own ears. Her pretty lips parted, and he grinned. “And what can I call you?”
Her smile twisted into a smirk. “Who said you could call me at all?”
He laughed, shocked again, and for the first time in a long time, speechless.
She winked. “I’m Sherry.” When she said her name, she looked right into his eyes as if he should remember it, and he had no doubt that he would. The confidence pouring off her was sexy as hell. “And…you are?”
“Tyler,” he replied, glad she’d gone with just her first name so he could do the same. The rest of the world simply referred to Tyler as Blue, the front man for the band bearing his last name. Even so, he stood back and waited for a sign of recognition.
It never came.
When it became obvious she really had no clue who he was, nor would she guess any time soon, Tyler felt a knot of tension release between his shoulder blades.
“So, Sherry, you planning to watch tonight’s show?”
She pulled a face. “I’m not much for country, other than the line dances. All those songs about trucks and trains and whiskey and dogs, though that last one I can forgive.” Her smile softened and Tyler moved closer, wanting to be nearer the genuine warmth of it. “No offense to your boss or anything,” she added with a slight grimace. “I heard he’s pretty hot…even if he is the man-whore of country music.”
A shocked laugh burst from his lips. “Excuse me?”
She waved her comment away, as if she hadn’t just insulted him to his face—which, he guessed, she hadn’t really. At least not on purpose. “Just a theory I have. I’m sure he’s a perfectly adequate boss.”
Now, Tyler laughed for real. “Yeah, he’s…adequate.” Shaking his head, he propped his hip on the table. This was the most fun he’d had with a woman in months—and they both still had their clothes on.
