Excerpt from FIRE
INSIDE by Kristen Ashley
Hop came out of the bathroom to see
Lanie on her feet on the other side of the bed, panties on, hands twisted
behind her back putting her bra on. Again.
He didn’t say a word. He prowled to her,
reached out an arm the second he was close, yanked her to him and fell to his
back in the bed, taking her down with him.
“Hop—” she started, pushing her weight
against his arms, but he slid her off him then wasted no time rolling over
her and pinning her to his bed.
“Sleep,” he ordered when he caught her
eyes in the weak dawn. “After rest, I’ll get coffee, we’ll juice up, then
round four.”
She blinked and breathed, “Four?”
“Got lots more I want to do to you,” he
informed her and watched her eyes go soft, sexier, then her teeth came out to
graze her lush lower lip, also fucking sexy, and her arms slid around him.
But she asked, “What about Tack and
Ty-Ty?”
“I’ll make sure the coast is clear,” he
told her.
“But they’ll see my car,” she told him.
“I’ll move it,” he offered.
Her hand slid up his back, around his
shoulder, and then to his neck where her thumb moved to stroke him.
Her touch was light but, fuck, it felt
good. He’d never had a woman touch him in an unconscious way like that, just
a touch, a stroke, giving something that meant nothing at the same time doing
it without thinking about it meant everything.
Shit.
Complicated.
“This is just supposed to be one night,”
she reminded him quietly, but he saw it in her eyes. She didn’t even try to
hide it. She’d bitten off more than she could chew.
He had too and he was nowhere near done
eating.
She was cute. She was sweet. She was
hot. She was better than he expected and he’d expected her to be pretty
fucking good. All that wrapped in a package that gorgeous?
Yeah.
He was nowhere near done eating.
“Change of plans. A night and a morning
and, maybe, an afternoon and, possibly, another night,” he amended, and her
eyes got softer as her hand slid up to cup his jaw.
“I have to work,” she told him.
“Call off,” he told her.
“I can’t. I own the joint.” She
explained something he knew, that she ran her own advertising agency. “And
things are a bit crazy.”
Things were always crazy for Lanie. The
woman lived crazy. She thrived on it. If there wasn’t crazy, she stirred it
up because she couldn’t breathe without it.
“Babe,” he pressed his body into hers,
“told you, got more I want to do to you.”
About
the Author
Kristen
Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and
the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and
family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is
good when you want to write.
Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting b0etter.

ISBN: 9780062331069;William Morrow Paperbacks; Pages: 304; $13.99
Book Summary
Welcome
to BOOMERANG, the hottest startup in the coolest city: Los Angeles, CA. Why?
Because it’s about no-strings, no-fuss relationships for those on the rebound
and those who crave connection without all the baggage of long-term promises.
While it’s THE dating site for the millennial gen, their offices are even
steamier than the hook-ups the website produces.
But
that buzz is fading as Boomerang struggles to grow, the solution? Find two
brilliant interns and give them a crack at turning this ship back to shore.
Enter
MIA GALLIANO and ETHAN VANCE. These young strangers—Mia an aspiring
filmmaker, and Ethan at the end of a collegiate sports career—are both bright
and motivated. And for very different reasons, although they’re both hungry
and way up for the challenge.
But
things go wrong from day one. For one thing, Ethan and Mia aren’t strangers.
The night before their stint at Boomerang begins, Ethan and Mia meet at a bar
and fall into bed together. Or so they think. They’re both hazy on the
details. They just know it’s aaaawkward when they share a post hookup taxi…to
the same place.
Will
the competition get to them, or do they have a future together?

Title: Last Second Chance
Author: Caisey Quinn
Expected Publication Date: May 19, 2014
BOOK SUMMARY
When
Stella Jo Chandler gets an offer to work at the Second Chance Ranch celebrity
rehab facility right after graduating from Texas A&M, she’s tempted to
turn it down. She wants to help real people with real problems, not spoiled
celebrities going on vacation for publicity. But growing up on her family’s
ranch left her with a love of horses that draws her to the opportunity. How
bad can babysitting a bunch of strung out celebrities be?
What she didn't count on was being roped into a tangled mess with infamous rocker and three-time rehab drop out Van Ransom on her first day. And she sure didn't expect to feel the overwhelming attraction that pulls her to the man who has more issues than she can count on both hands. Like the hotel rooms and tour buses he’s famous for trashing, the havoc he could wreak on Stella’s heart would be irreparable. Van isn't at Second Chance for publicity or because he’s suffering from “exhaustion”. He’s on the brink of destruction, and he needs the kind of help Stella isn't sure she can give. But without her, he'll lose everything. Because he’s on his last second chance.

Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway: Blood Crown by Ali Cross
Author: Ali Cross
Publisher/Publication Date: Novel Ninjutsu, February 28, 2014
Format/Source: E-ARC, Publicist
About
BLOOD CROWN: Androids
have claimed power over what remains of the human race. They rule without
remorse. They are the Mind and humans exist only to serve them.
But it wasn't always so. Before the android uprising, select droids, called Servants, were pivotal in engineering a new human race with nanotechnology enhanced DNA. The Blood Crown theorum was to be humanity's crowning glory and the key to their survival in deep space. But Serantha, Daughter of the West, was the last female to receive Gifts from her Servant and when the Mind mutinied, she was hidden away, and presumed dead. Without Serantha there is no hope of the Blood Crown being realized so Nicolai, Son of the East, abandons his crown to join the rebel forces. He might not provide the future for his people he had once dreamed of, but he will not go down without a fight. When Nicolai discovers Sera among a small compliment of kitchen staff, everything changes--but Sera's Gifts were never completed and she is ill-equipped to face a legion of androids determined to wipe her, and every other human, out of existence. Their only hope is the Blood Crown--but even if Serantha and Nicolai can realize their potential it may be too late to save mankind.
Review
Blood Crown by Ali Cross presents the concept of androids
developed to serve mankind, but revolt in an attempt to destroy mankind.
Although the latter part of the book was well-written,
there were parts of the book that didn't sit well with me. Blood Crown started out a little
slow, but grew more interesting in the end. The execution of Serantha’s
connection to the ship was entertaining; however, early on I found that the fight scenes
lacked the detail essential to captivating me. Another
aspect of the story I found troublesome was that the female servants
were treated like sexual objects. In the beginning Serantha appeared to be a
weak heroine. Yes, there were times when Serantha would fight back--which added excitement to the mix, but there
were other times when she would do little to defend herself, which made her
fall short of being a kick-ass heroine.
After the first 90 pages, the story improved as there was
a greater focus on Serantha and Nicolai; and the war that was
brewing between the humans and androids. Actually the writing seemed stronger and the
story grew more compelling during the second half of the book.
Overall, the story was okay after Serantha begins to
realize her power and build upon her gifts.
Rating 3/5
I was provided with an E-ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

TEASER
EXCERPT
He flashed her a sexy grin and stepped right back into her space. “I don’t want some chick. And you’re not that good at hiding your emotions, beautiful. You snapped on those nurses at lunch and ran out of my room so fast I barely had time to blink. Any particular reason why?” He trailed a finger down her cheek and over her lips. Instead of an answer, a whimper escaped her throat. A painful throbbing began between her thighs, intense and demanding.
His touch deepened the pain. Her policy was no dating people in her workplace. She certainly wasn’t going to date Van Ransom. He’d probably never taken a girl on a proper date in his life. But right now she didn’t care about any of that. She just wanted him to take her up against the back of the barn, hard and fast. She was a country girl at heart after all.
“Stella Jo, you going to answer? Or do I have torture it out of you?”
The way he said her name, the one she was used to hearing drop only from the lips of family members, made her shiver. She let her head loll back to rest on the wall behind her. “Do your worst. I’ve dealt with animals much bigger than you.”
Leaning in until his nose brushed hers, he let out a soft growl. “You sure as hell better be talking about horses, because if you’re talking about Dr. Dickhead or any other man who's put his hands on you in a way you didn’t want, they’re fucking dead.”
She grinned and winked at him. “Guess that’s for me to know, darlin’.” Her breath was still coming too fast, but she was gaining confidence. She was having as much of an effect on him as he was on her. A competitive streak she thought she’d buried rose to the surface. “Speaking of men putting their hands on me, if this is your brand of torture, I’m disappointed.”
Thrusting himself up against her, he growled again. “Baby, my brand of torture involves that riding crop you bent over to pick up. Matter of fact, it involves you being bent over also.”
An audible gasp of surprise escaped her. His threat pulled at something deep inside of her that she didn’t know was there. Something dark and terrifying that she knew she should feel dirty and ashamed of. But she didn’t. Because apparently he wasn’t the only one who was twisted like that.
“Surprised?” he asked with a knowing look in his eyes.
“That you know what a riding crop is? Yeah.” She forced herself to smirk at him so he wouldn't see that she was a trembling mess of desire.
